Ford Submits Design for First-Ever Pickup Truck Emoji

When customers around the world started asking for a pickup truck emoji, Ford knew they had to be the ones to help make it happen. With over 100 years of truck-building experience and the leader in pickup truck sales, Ford set out to get a truck emoji on phones everywhere.

Ford’s team spent a lot of time designing the pickup truck emoji that was sent as a proposal to the Unicode Consortium in 2018, researching the needs of influencers and social media users around the globe.

“People want a truck emoji that’s fresh, stylish, carries their ideas, and ‘tows’ the line on what a truck means,” said Craig Metros, Ford North America design director. “The end result is a modern icon that should give all truck fans a smiley face emoji.”

The pickup truck emoji has been short-listed as a potential addition to a future version of Unicode, the standard that all smartphone keyboards use. If approved, the new truck emoji will likely start coming to phones sometime in 2020.

Ford sells a full lineup of pickup trucks, including the Ford F-150 full-size pickup, Ranger midsize pickup and Super Duty line of heavy-duty trucks. For more information about Ford trucks, contact us today at Tommie Vaughn Ford in Houston, Texas.
