All-Electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 Prototype Dragster
Most drag racing cars are loud and use lots of gasoline to achieve their incredibly low quarter-mile times. But for the All-Electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 Prototype Dragster, not a single drop of fuel is used to achieve a low-8-second quarter mile at 170+ mph.
The purpose-built vehicle delivers over 1,400 horsepower and 1,100 lb.-ft. of torque at a moments notice, fully showcasing the benefits of electric propulsion. Without the need to rev up, the all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet can put the power down instantly.
“Ford has always used motorsport to demonstrate innovation,” said Dave Pericak, Global Director of Ford Icons. “Electric powertrains give us a completely new kind of performance and the all-electric Cobra Jet 1400 is one example of pushing new technology to the absolute limit.”
The Cobra Jet 1400 prototype will make its world debut later this year at a drag racing event, where fans can see what this impressive vehicle is capable of on the track. It also honors the original Cobra Jet, which was a major competitor on the drag strip in the late 1960s.
Ford announced the Mustang Mach-E SUV earlier this year, which is the first Mustang vehicle that Ford customers will be able to get their hands on and experience electric power. If you are interested in reserving a Mustang Mach-E, please contact us at Tommie Vaughn Ford in Houston, TX.
